Phasmophobia Console Release Has been Delayed Once Again

Kinetic Games, the developer and publisher behind the paranormal horror sensation Phasmophobia, has recently made an announcement regarding the much-awaited release of the game for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PlayStation VR2. Unfortunately, these ports have faced yet another delay, and this time, without a specific release date. The information came to light through a newly released Developer Update via Phasmophobia‘s Steam page.

In a message addressed to the Phasmophobia community, Kinetic Games expressed their gratitude for the ongoing support and excitement surrounding the console release. The developer cited unforeseen challenges that the team has encountered as they adapt to a remote work environment following a fire incident and work to establish a new office. The developer confessed that these factors have significantly affected the development timeline.

Apart from these challenges, Kinetic Games is diligently working on optimizing the game’s performance across all maps in preparation for the PlayStation VR2 release. This includes a rework of the Maple Lodge Campsite with a completely new layout, a time-consuming task that is considered essential to provide the best gameplay experience.

Originally, Phasmophobia was set to launch for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PlayStation VR2 on August 2023. However, the console release was eventually delayed to October 2023 due to a fire incident in Kinetic Games’ office building. Now, it appears that fans will have to wait a bit longer for the console port, as there’s no release date set in stone as of yet. Fortunately, the delay has not affected the Halloween event for the PC version, which is still scheduled for release on or around October 26th.

While the indefinite delay is truly disappointing for eager console players, Kinetic Games assures that the wait will be worthwhile when Phasmophobia finally arrives on their platforms. For now, fans can only await further updates on the release dates of these versions.

Phasmophobia is currently available on PC via Steam Early Access.
