Fortnite fans convinced Michael Myers will drop after this much-maligned change

Members of the Fortnite subreddit have become their own version of Dr Loomis, as they think they’ve figured out when horror icon Michael Myers will be dropping into the battle royale shooter.

At the time of writing, the Fortnite Michael Myers release window is looking a little murky, as though we know he’s coming at some point during the 2023 Fortnitemares event currently under way, the Shape is still nowhere to be seen. (Presumably, hiding in the cupboard waiting to strike.) However, as pointed out by ProdbyPyxlwhip, fans think it’s very likely that Epic Games is waiting for the unpopular Fortnite V-Bucks price change to take effect on October 28 as the first offering at the higher prices.

“This is exactly what’s going on,” says Accomplished-Disk-68. “Anyone who’s planning on buying these new releases, I suggest you stock up on V-Bucks now.” Other users are offering similar advice to their fellow players in order to beat the price hike before it comes into effect. “Buy the current V-Bucks cards in store as once the price change goes live they’ll deactivate all the cards that weren’t bought and reprint them.” claims Cularia. Some have already been stockpiling their Bucks for this eventuality too, so they’ll be able to get their hands on Michael when he emerges. “Good thing I have 13,000 waiting in my account and save the world V-Buck income. Epic, here’s a message from me. (Middle finger emoji.)” says Roin-da-Groin.

Many fans are calling Epic’s business tactic scummy, if expected – “Wow, if this ends up being true I’ll lose a lot of respect for Epic. Very dirty business practice.” says TruthSeeeker. It also comes as the latest in a long line of unpopular business-focused bottom-line-centric moves from the company – that included laying off around 800 workers from the company just a couple of weeks ago. That ill-will was further compounded last night, as it was confirmed to Variety that around half of the employees of Bandcamp, an indie music platform that Epic bought in March 2022 and sold off in September of this year, would also be let go.
