Cristiano Ronaldo poised for heartbreaking rating downgrade in FC 24

The EA Sports FC 24 release date is nearly here, which means that player ratings are beginning to be revealed! The ratings always cause much discussion within the fanbase. This is especially so when it comes to the battle for the GOAT between Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

For years, these two have been at the top of the game, both on the real pitch and the virtual one. It has been over a decade since someone other than the Argentine or the Portuguese has topped the FIFA ratings! Back in FIFA 08, CR7 picked up his first 90 overall, and apart from FIFA 10 and FIFA 11, he has been in the 90s Club each year since.

However, we are coming to the end of an era. Ronaldo has moved from European football to the Saudi Pro League, now representing Al-Nassr. Messi has packed in Europe too, now with MLS side Inter Miami. Yet, it will be Ronaldo who will be hit the hardest in the FC 24 ratings after a move away. He has already had to watch his nemesis win the World Cup with Argentina, and now he will see his FC 24 rating drop drastically, while Messi just takes a slight hit.

We are still waiting to see the official FC 24 ratings for the pair. However, the data mining account @Fut_scoreboard on X (formerly Twitter) has leaked a whole database! In that, Messi is set to take a -1 downgrade, going from a 91 overall in FIFA 23 to a 90 OVR in FC 24. Ronaldo, on the other hand, looks to be getting a huge -4 hit! His 90 OVR in FIFA 23 has been slashed to 86 OVR for FC 24.

According to @Fut_scoreboard, in FC 24 Ronaldo will take a -4 to his pace, -4 on shooting, -3 passing, a massive -6 on dribbling, and -1 to physicality. If it comes as any consolation, his 34 DEF will remain.

Ronaldo may be scoring for fun in Saudi Arabia, with 20 goals and seven assists in 24 appearances since his move, but it doesn’t look like that counts for anything to the EA rating gurus. It truly is the end of an era.
