Only Up! has been removed from Steam permanently by the developer

One of the most popular games on Twitch is now no longer available on Steam after the developer has decided to delist Only Up! from the store due to stress.

A message on the game’s Steam page from the developer SCKR Games explained the decision to fans. “I’m a solo developer and this game is my first experience in Gamedev, a game I did for creativity, to test myself, and where I made a lot of mistakes. The game has kept me under a lot of stress all these months. Now I want to put the game behind me. And yes, the game won’t be available in the Steam Store soon, that’s what I decided myself. What I need now is peace of mind and healing.”

They continued to detail their future plans, including beginning work on a brand new game after a brief break. “I plan to take a pause, and continue my education in game design and further with new experience and knowledge to direct my energies to my next game with the working title ‘Kith’. It’ll be a new experience and a new concept with realism, a completely different genre and setting and the emphasis is on cinematography. This time I hope the project will be created by a small team. This is a challenging project on which I want to significantly improve my skills in game design. Thank you for your understanding.”

The decision comes just a few months after Only Up! was temporarily removed from the store earlier this summer, after it was accused of utilising copyrighted assets. It later removed the article in question and returned a day later. It became a viral sensation over the summer after exploding in popularity on streaming service Twitch back in May, where at one point it became the platform’s sixth most popular game with almost 85,000 viewers.
