A gamer online has made a great catch, noticing a fun Titanic Easter egg in Skyrim twelve years after the game was first released. Just when many had thought all of Skyrim‘s best Easter eggs were discovered, another member of the community has gone and found another.
While Bethesda titles are known for their sprawling worlds where players can live out their RPG dreams, Easter eggs are also another distinct feature that the studio is known for. From the weirdest Skyrim Easter eggs to the most wonderful, it seems as though there is always another discovery just around the corner. After twelve years, most would think that gamers have exhausted everything the base game has to offer, but that idea keeps being proven wrong, time and time again.
Skyrim Player Paints Incredible Painting of Solitude
A talented creator of Skyrim fan art shares a picturesque painting of the area surrounding the game’s illustrious city of Solitude.
Redditor NawwGG420 posted a picture of the Easter egg, which appears to depict a skeleton lying on a stone slab. The slab clearly has room for one more, while another skeleton lies buried in the ground, reaching up to the slab. Although nothing is guaranteed, it’s pretty safe to say that this is a reference to the ending of Titanic, where Rose is saved from the freezing water by lying on a wood panel while Jack drowns in the water. According to other comments in the thread, this particular Easter egg can be found in the Inner Sanctum at the Forgotten Vale, which is part of Skyrim‘s Dawnguard DLC.
Bethesda is clearly a huge fan of its movie Easter eggs. In Skyrim alone, there are references to 300 and Lord of the Rings, while the recently released Starfield has a Green Mile Easter egg. These small additions add a lot to the game. Not everyone will come to a conclusion about what it is referencing, but for those who do manage to catch them, it’s a pretty cool moment. It’s good to see that even with Starfield‘s other issues, the art of the Easter egg has gone nowhere.
The hope is that Bethesda’s commitment to cool Easter eggs will continue into The Elder Scrolls 6. However, that is likely to remain unclear until the sequel to Skyrim is eventually released at some point in the future. News on the game still remains bare in general, despite its initial announcement all the way back in 2018. With Starfield now finally released, hopefully Bethesda is able to finally get around to returning to Tamriel after a wait spanning over a decade now.
Skyrim
Skyrim is a beloved game for a reason. There is so much to do in the game, and with the new anniversary updates, even veteran players will have a fresh experience if they haven’t played it in a few years.
Perfect for players who want to play Skyrim on the go, but don’t have a Steamdeck or another portable gaming system, this deal is likely not going to be repeated until end of year sales start going. Take the opportunity now to become the dragonborn on the Switch!
