Following the major Minecraft ($6.99) 1.20 Trails & Tales update a few months ago, the Minecraft Live 2023 event just took place over the weekend. This event from Mojang and Microsoft had a few major reveals including some for games not on mobile yet. As of now, Minecraft 1.21, the next major update, still doesn’t have a title, but the update due next year will bring in the Trial Chamber sprawling structure. This has corridors and rooms with traps, trial spawners, mobs, loot, and more. The update will also bring in the breeze hostile mob. Following the main Minecraft update reveal, a new Star Wars DLC was announced for the marketplace. The Minecraft ‘Star Wars: Path of the Jedi’ DLC launches on November 7th.
Minecraft will also get the Planet Earth III DLC in the main bedrock version and the Minecraft Education version by BBC Earth. This year’s Mob Vote winner is the armadillo. The armadillo lives in the savannah biome. I’m surprised the team still hasn’t announced a current-generation console version of the game for PS5 and Xbox Series consoles. Following those announcements, the team revealed some stats for the game including that it has sold over 300 million copies worldwide on all platforms. Check out all the information here. I’m interested to see what else comes to Minecraft in 2024, and whether we get the spin-offs like Dungeons and Legends on mobile natively as opposed to Microsoft likely wanting everyone to stream it over the cloud. Have you played Minecraft recently on mobile and what do you think of the Minecraft Live 2023 event reveals?
